MARATEA
Con i suoi 32km di costa Maratea è l’unico sbocco sul mar Tirreno della Basilicata. Da molti conosciuta come “la perla del tirreno”, Maratea offre uno degli scenari più belli d’Italia grazie ai suoi paesaggi mozzafiato. Dai mille metri della montagna si scende all’azzurro cristallino del mare, passando per spiagge, sentieri e calette nascoste.
La costa frastagliata ospita numerose spiagge, da quelle più grandi, attrezzate e perfette per le famiglie, a quelle più piccole per chi vuole passare una giornata in relax. Questo ha fatto di Maratea una meta agognata per il turismo balneare. La qualità dell’offerta turistica è stata inoltre confermata negli anni da molti e importanti riconoscimenti come la Bandiera Blu, la Bandiera Verde e le Cinque Vele Legambiente.
Ma Maratea non è solo mare: i sentieri tra i boschi e le pinete sono numerosi e da ognuno è possibile scoprire scorci inaspettati. La Perla del Tirreno offre infatti ai suoi ospiti anche la possibilità di svolgere numerose attività outdoor: il trekking su sentieri di montagna che affacciano sul mare, da fare sia a piedi sia in sella a un cavallo; il parapendio che ti permette di sorvolare la costa; il kayak per navigare dolcemente sopra le rocce e scoprire gli angoli più nascosti ed affascinanti, la via ferrata al Redentore e le pareti per l’arrampicata. Senza tralasciare i numerosi eventi legati al cinema, alla musica, all’arte, al teatro che ogni estate vengono organizzati sul territorio.
Infine un passaggio obbligatorio è la visita al Monte San Biagio, famoso per la statua del Cristo Redentore che domina la Città, dal quale è possibile godere dello spettacolo della costa e dei mille colori del tramonto.
Known as the Pearl of the Tyrrhenian sea, with its 32 km of coast Maratea is the only little town of the Basilicata region with access to the Mediterranean Sea. It offers one of the most breath-taking views of Italy: hundreds of meters of mountains which merge with the crystal blue waters, with beaches, hiking trails and small hidden coves all around. All along the indented coast there are many different beaches: the bigger ones with all the facilities you need on holiday, and the smaller ones suitable if you only want to relax surrounded by nature.
When travelling around Maratea you can also find hiking trails which allow you to explore the landscape from different perspectives. There are numerous paths through the woods and pine forests and from each one it is possible to discover unexpected glimpses. Maratea offers its guests the possibility of numerous outdoor activities: trekking on mountains overlooking the sea, to be done either on foot or on horseback; the paraglider that allows you to fly over the coast; the kayak to navigate gently over the rocks and discover the most hidden and fascinating corners, the via ferrata to the Redeemer and the climbing walls. Without forgetting the numerous events related to cinema, music, art and theater that are organized in the area every summer.
Among the other characteristic places to visit the caves are certainly recommended. The most beautiful ones are the Grotte di Marina (in the suburb Marina di Maratea) and the Grotta dell’Angelo (underneath the Statue of Christ the Redeemer). You also have to visit the Monte San Biagio, famous for the world second tallest Statue of Christ the Redemeer which overlooks the entire little town and at dusk offers you a very suggestive view.
